The MARS (Military Auxiliary Radio Service) program consists of licensed amateur radio operators who are interested in military communications. They contribute to the MARS mission by providing auxiliary or emergency communications on a local, national, and international basis as an adjunct to normal communications.

MARS utilizes many facets of radio communications including traditional SSB voice and digital communications, some of which are not allowed to ordinary amateur radio operators on HF frequencies outside of the normal ham bands.

The country is divided into 10 different regions. Each region has a director. Colorado,Wyoming,Montana,Utah,North Dakota and South Dakota are in Region 8. Each state has a director. The website for Region 8 is
